Second Week!
This week we went more in detail with the ebscohost website. I'm glad we did because I was a little confused on how the website worked and what it really was for. Over the past week we really learned in class that Penn State has this big data base of information open to all the students. We also covered Wikipedia and we discussed if it was a reliable source of information or not. It comes to find out that some of the sources that Wikipedia uses to get information from aren't dependable websites but then there are. So it brings up this controversy. Is Wikipedia a good or bad website to use on a paper and it still is thought to be a bad source to use. We also covered more on what's a good reliable source and what isn't. Come to find out that any source that doesn't present the author is not a reliable source. The reason behind it is that you do not know if that person has any background on the information there presenting. They could have just went on Wikipedia and came up with the information there telling you which would put you in a bad place. The best thing is to make sure there is an author and check there background. For example if I wrote this essay on how to teach and posted it on the internet and you clicked on my page. Make sure that you look up me because I would be the author and check to make sure I have background knowledge on teaching. Maybe I was a teacher before and etc. Also checking the dates of things are important to. In this day and age technology, theory's and information is always changing so it's always good to get a more prevalent date to what it is when you're looking at it. Well that is everything I got out of last week.

I forgot about checking whether or not there is an author for a source. It's important to see if the person telling you about a subject is actually qualified to do so.
