LAST BLOG
The last week was an easy week. The presentations went good in my opinion and I enjoyed the topics. We had a range of topics from Apple products to tailgating. I found the tailgating one to be my favorite I really enjoyed learning about something I knew nothing about. I never knew people took something so simple like that so serious, but it sounds fun. I enjoyed my time in the class and I learned a lot of important information. I also now have the ability's to find books and my way around the library with ease. The way we were presented with the information was well organized and was easy to comprehend. The teachers did a good job and I applause to them for that.

Third week
This week we went over copyright and what it actually means. Copyright is there to basically protect the authors original works of authorship. Also, you should not Plagiaries anything and think you could get away with it. A lot of the big companies have robots that check the web to see if anybody is using their images or names without permission. I learned that you should cite something first so you don't forget to do it and have to deal with it later. I almost forgot about the scholarly articles. During the first day of class this week we watched two amusing videos on scholarly articles. Even though they had amusement in there it still got to the point and gave us important information. We talked about the different resources we can use such as the CAT to find information that is more reliable than most. Also, we covered the difference between a popular book and a book meant to give information. The popular book had more color and things that just make you want to grab it and read it. But the book that was suppose to give more information on the topic was dull and had no color. I found it funny that the book you should be reading is the dull boring one and the one with a little bit of information is the colorful one. But I guess it makes since. I also questioned why would the author that gives us the real important information make the book so dull and boring.

Second Week!
This week we went more in detail with the ebscohost website. I'm glad we did because I was a little confused on how the website worked and what it really was for. Over the past week we really learned in class that Penn State has this big data base of information open to all the students. We also covered Wikipedia and we discussed if it was a reliable source of information or not. It comes to find out that some of the sources that Wikipedia uses to get information from aren't dependable websites but then there are. So it brings up this controversy. Is Wikipedia a good or bad website to use on a paper and it still is thought to be a bad source to use. We also covered more on what's a good reliable source and what isn't. Come to find out that any source that doesn't present the author is not a reliable source. The reason behind it is that you do not know if that person has any background on the information there presenting. They could have just went on Wikipedia and came up with the information there telling you which would put you in a bad place. The best thing is to make sure there is an author and check there background. For example if I wrote this essay on how to teach and posted it on the internet and you clicked on my page. Make sure that you look up me because I would be the author and check to make sure I have background knowledge on teaching. Maybe I was a teacher before and etc. Also checking the dates of things are important to. In this day and age technology, theory's and information is always changing so it's always good to get a more prevalent date to what it is when you're looking at it. Well that is everything I got out of last week.

FIrst Week!
The first week of class provided me with a lot of information. I rarely used my library in high school and from what we learned I see I'm going to be using the library here a lot. I found it very useful that on the libraries website you can go down in the bottom right corner and click on tutorials and they have links you can read to help you out or videos you can watch that can provided you with the proper information on how to work the website. I also learned that they have certain books that you may need for class there and you may take them out for a certain period of time. Just in case a lot of people are trying to get that book you can always ask your professor to hold it for you and from my understanding they would have no problem doing that. I am glad that they have maps now that will direct you to the books you are looking for. I believe that would be very helpful if you were in a rush. The search engine seems to be like google in a since. Once you know what you are looking for you type it in hit search and you get all these links refering to what you typed in. The only thing is if you type in something that is a broad subject you will get like a million different links to click on. Being this is my first blogg I really am glad we are leaarning how to use these in class because I dont know when im going to have to use these down the road. Now i might start blogging about things that i am really interested in and maybe I will get some people to follow me or however it works. Well thats it comment please!!
